Welcome to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Kherson 2002-2022

06/06/24―15/07/24

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Kherson serves as a unique chronicle of Ukrainian art, from the performances of its founder Vyacheslav Mashnytsky, an artist and curator abducted by russians from his home at the onset of the full-scale war, to the phenomenon of folk artist Polina Raiko, whose house was damaged by the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Exhibition curators: Rina Khramtsova and Semen Khramtsov

Participants: Vyacheslav Mashnytsky, Polina Raiko, Stas Volyazlovsky, Zhanna Kadyrova, Yulia Volyazlovska, Semen Khramtsov, Mykola Matsenko, Oleksandr Zhukovsky, Oleksandr Pechersky, Margarita Bolgar, Viktor Pokydanets, Yuriy Biley, Mykola Karabinovych, Sashko Dovgy, Yulia Manukyan, Les Kasyanov.

We, Semen and Rina Khramtsovy, a married couple, partners, and best friends, have both individual and joint exhibition experience, but representing the museum is an additional honor and responsibility. As close friends of Slava and the museum, we see it as our duty to promote Kherson art.

“Welcome to the Museum of Contemporary Art Kherson” is the signature phrase of Slava Mashnytsky, the museum’s founder, used to greet friends and guests at every exhibition.

Following the de-occupation of Kherson and Slava’s disappearance, the museum is currently preserved. We will showcase only part of the museum’s collection, discuss significant exhibitions and projects, and introduce artists from Kherson and beyond.
