They say that eyes are the mirror of the soul. But it’s almost impossible to look into the eyes of children on the autism spectrum to understand their world. They hide their gaze from everyone: passers-by on the streets, acquaintances, and even their closest people — their parents.

However, a safe atmosphere, caring adults by their side, and corrective sessions can work wonders. That’s the kind of magic that happened at our LEVCHYK hub during the shooting of “Eye Contact. A Gaze in the Spectrum.” Photographer and project co-author Marta Kharlova managed to do the nearly impossible — to peer into the eyes of children on the autism spectrum. These “secret moments” are captured in dozens of profound and emotional photographs.

We initiated this project with an important mission — to show the world the stories hidden behind the eyes of each child with autism spectrum disorder. Visit our exhibition and catch a glimpse into the world of children on the spectrum!
