One more step. Ivan Stanislavsky’s exhibition

“One more step” is a photo project about Ivan Moldun, a native of the Kherson region, who was extremely seriously wounded at the front. I met Ivan only for one month, when he was undergoing rehabilitation at the Next Step Ukraine center in Lviv. But in this short period, I saw how much effort a person with an injury needs to perform just everyday tasks. And if it has some purpose, several times more effort is needed. On the way to his goal, Ivan has already managed to overcome many difficulties, I am sure that this would make a good success story. But most of all, I wanted to convey Ivan’s willpower and character, because it is thanks to these qualities, as I think, that he moves forward. It is very unfortunate that in Ukraine, due to extremely low inclusiveness and stigmatization, veterans with injuries mostly remain “amputees” from society. And I believe that together with people like Ivan, we can all be much stronger. Therefore, this photo project is also a point of intersection for veterans and society, a place and a reason for dialogue.

Journalist and native of Mariupol, Ivan Stanislavsky, before the start of the full-scale war, was interested in local history and researched his hometown. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he moved to Lviv, where together with his colleagues he published the photo guide “Mariupol Monumental” and the photo album “All Shades of Mariupol Mosaics”.
