Concert “Hymns” by Samuele Preda

“Hymns” is a musical journey through the essence of freedom, uniting the melancholia of ukranian popular melodies, with Italian Partisan songs from the resistance, and the enigmatic abstraction of Bach’s music for solo violin.

The concert will be divided into two contrasting parts, the first one with the traditional music, the second with Bach’s music.

The music will be Interspersed by readings from ukranian poet Ivan Franko*, italian poet Italo Calvino* and welsh poet
Dylan Thomas.

Dedicated to the ukranian victims of the russian genocide.

Samuele Preda born in Italy, he carried out his violin studies at the Conservatory “Guido Cantelli” in Novara, where he studied with Maria Ronchini and Leonardo Boero, graduating with full marks with a monographic recital based on Johann Sebastian Bach’s music. He is currently studying in Turin, under the guidance of romanian violinist Adrian Pinzaru, first violin of Delian Quartet. He was selected to participate in the Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy, an intensive chamber orchestra course held by the first parts of the ICO, based in
Limerick, Ireland. He was selected to participate in the chamber music festival “Eos”, held in Italy, on Ventotene Island, playing chamber music with musicians of the caliber of: Miriam Prandi (former first cello of Musicaeterna), violist Ivan Pochekin, Alexey Zhilin (cellist of the David Oistrakh quartet and first cello of Musicaeterna), Adrian Pinzaru.
In other occasions, he played alongside musicians such as Daniel Roberts, (second violin of the Castalian Quartet), Elizabeth Wilson (pupil of Mstislav Rostropovich at the Moscow Conservatory) Andre Swanepoel (second violin
concertmeister of the Irish Chamber Orchestra), ukranian violist Igor Polesitsky (first viola of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino).
