“12. A Year in Focus” is the result of twelve months of a joint creative journey that united Ukrainian photographers from different cities and countries around one idea: to shoot, observe, feel.
Every month, the authors worked with a new theme proposed by the project curator. They searched for their own interpretations, rhythms, color, light and meaning in everyday life. Seemingly simple tasks became an entry point into deeper reflections on time, place, and themselves. Each month opened up a different perspective: from color and movement to memory, intuition or chance.
During this year, the participants created hundreds of photographs, different in style, but united by the sincerity of observation. These are works born from the desire to see and show the world as it is – in its beauty, imperfection and the truth of the moment.
The final exhibition presents selected images from over nine thousand submitted throughout the year (October 2024 – September 2025) by hundreds of Ukrainian photographers – finalists and winners each month. It reflects the collective energy that has formed around this process and is a testament to how photography can be not only a tool for self-expression, but also a way of dialogue, support, inspiration and consolidation.
