We invite you to Volodymyr Kuznetsov‘s exhibition at the Municipal Art Center – “Буряк лопата рушник пісня та інша зброя” (“Beetroot shovel embroidered towel song and other weapons”). The name of the exhibition is inspired by the objects that appear in the works. There are simple and familiar things that come in handy in wartime – food, tools, practice, love. People gathered knowledge and experiences, ancient and present, individual and collective, innate, gained during the Maidans, and stood up for their values against Evil.
The central work of the exposition is the video installation “Борщ для ЗСУ” (“Borsch for the Armed Forces”). This attempt at documentation represents archiving of what matters in society right now, during these extreme times. This is an archive of gestures of solidarity, public social acts.
The author Volodymyr Kuznetsov was born in Lutsk, and practices art in Kyiv. Volodymyr is сo-founder of the artist group R.E.P., he took part in self-organized initiatives and assemblies of Maidan and post-Maidan.
